-BLOGGER OF SPECULATIVE FICTION-
LJ BERGQUIST

START HERE!
Hey and Hello! I'm guessing you're here because you love writing and improving as a writer. Wonderful! I write and blog as L J Bergquist and usually go by Liz. If you want to know more about me or my relationship with writing, you can read that HERE.
My goal for this site is to prepare and promote writers at all stages of their journeys. Especially writers of speculative fiction.
Good? Great.
For you to get the most out of this site, you'll need to know what it has to offer.
1st Stop: the Creative Connections Blog

Here you can find tips and tricks I learn as I discover what it takes to write meaningful stories. While most this advice can be applied to other genres, my focus is on how writers can use it to improve their speculative fiction. You can also find
-
writing prompts
-
writer challenges
-
author interviews
-
applications of Bookshelf resources
-
contest submissions
-
updates to the Bookshelf and contests
For authors with an upcoming or recent release, I love to do written interviews that the author can re-post anywhere. This format can give you publicity, practice with interviews, and a chance to help other writers. I can also add your new book to the Bookshelf. Get in touch here.
For bloggers or those considering blogging, I'd love to give you greater visibility. If you don't have a blog but want to see if you have the needed perseverance, contact me and maybe you can try guest blogging. For established bloggers who want to try a tour, leave me a note too. Get in touch here.
For all writers, contest entries will be posted and judged here. This is a chance for writers of all levels to practice publishing and promoting short pieces of poetry and prose. The stakes are small here so it's a great place to experiment or promote.
2nd Stop: the Bookshelf

Over here is a resource section that I update monthly. Not just a list of craft books, he Bookshelf contains a few additiional features.
-
Includes a section for technology intended to boost productivity.
-
Each book and tech resource, has a photo, standard blurb, and external Buy or Try link.
-
Includes featured new releases in speculative fiction -- and links to interviews with those authors.
-
Some resources include links to blog articles where you can see ideas in practice.
For authors with an upcoming or recent release, I'm happy to include your book here in exchange for a written interview. Get in touch here.
For fans of a writing aid, I'd love to add your favorite book or technology in exchange for a brief testimonial or how-to post. Get in touch here.
3nd Stop: the Contests

Currently under development.

FLASH FICTION
I want to give chances for you to practice what you've learned. About writing. About finishing. About putting the words in a public space. And about marketing your work.
Entering a contest shows yourself and others that you can finish what you start. Short form contests can also be a great way to experiment with a new style, character, or scenario.
Casual contests are under development for both flash fiction and poetry. Anyone can enter (minors will need permission) so long as the entry includes supernatural elements. There will be no submission fee and there will be prizes.
